RV Roof Coating System Workflow

Proper Prep = Long Lasting Results

Step 1

Clean the Roof

Preparation is crucial to long-term success. Remove any loose debris and thoroughly clean the roof. Once cleaned, allow adequate time for the roof to completely dry.

Step 2

Seal Seams & Penetrations

Brush-apply Silicone Flashing Grade over all areas where lap sealant exists. Our product can be applied directly over the old sealant as long as it remains fully adhered to the roof. Seal the front and rear cap seams and around skylights, vents, antennas, and other penetrations.

Step 3

Roll the Top Coat

Apply one heavy coat at a coverage rate of 60 sq. ft. per gallon using a ⅜- or ½-inch nap roller. Minimize back-rolling to allow the product to self-level. Push the Top Coat toward and over the edge of the areas where Flashing Grade was applied to create an overlap, but do not allow the roller to contact the wet Flashing Grade.

Step 4

Enjoy Camping Again!

Allow the system 12–24 hours to cure. You can now sit back and relax knowing your investment is protected for many years to come with a high-quality system built to last!

Good to know

Built for confident DIY decisions.

What roof materials can be coated?

Silicone Top Coat may be used over EPDM rubber, TPO, PVC, fiberglass, metal and existing roof coatings when the surface is properly cleaned, dry and prepared.

Do I subtract rooftop equipment?

No. Use the complete roof length and width when calculating square footage. The calculator rounds coating quantity up to a full gallon.

Do TPO and PVC roofs require primer?

Not automatically. Perform an adhesion test first. The result determines whether Single Ply Primer is needed.

Can the project be completed in one day?

Many customers apply Flashing Grade and Top Coat the same day. Carefully push the Top Coat into an overlap without rolling back across fresh Flashing Grade.
